Il frutteto di Archeologia Arborea ha bisogno di acqua per sopravvivere: costruiamo insieme l'impianto di irrigazione

🇮🇹️ Una ricerca sulle vecchie varietà locali di piante da frutto cominciata 40 anni fa nel Centro Italia. Una corsa contro il tempo per salvare queste piante dalla loro scomparsa definitiva.

Come gli archeologi ricostruiscono una civiltà da un piccolo frammento, "Archeologia Arborea" da una piccola mela ha riscoperto mondi e culture di intere comunità.

Sono stati privilegiati i luoghi ancora abitati da anziani agricoltori. Parlando, ma soprattutto ascoltando i loro racconti e testimonianze, abbiamo riallacciato il filo della memoria interrotto tra vecchie e nuove generazioni.

La ricerca in antichi poderi abbandonati, orti dei monasteri o antichi luoghi di coltivazione distrutti dallo sviluppo industriale ha portato alla luce alberi testimoni ormai muti della antica cultura rurale. Ogni giorno scoprivamo quanto straordinario fosse il nostro patrimonio e quanto rapida e definitiva la sua scomparsa…

Ritrovando decine di varietà di mele, pere, fichi e altre specie, è stata costituita una Collezione frutteto e una Fondazione ONLUS che si prende cura di questo straordinario patrimonio.

Negli anni abbiamo organizzato mostre pomologiche, conferenze, ricerche e partecipato a progetti nazionali e internazionali, continuando la nostra ricerca. Abbiamo scritto e hanno scritto su di noi articoli, reportage, documentari e libri.

Il grande frutteto di Archeologia Arborea è diventato un serbatoio di geni e cultura, da condividere con le nuove generazioni.

Un patrimonio unico di biodiversità che, per continuare a sopravvivere, ha bisogno del vostro aiuto.

L'IMPIANTO DI IRRIGAZIONE

Fondamentale per la sopravvivenza delle piante esistenti e di quelle che stiamo continuando a salvare. Negli ultimi anni, infatti, sempre più frequenti sono stati fenomeni di siccità che hanno messo in grave pericolo il frutteto. Senza irrigazione sarà sempre più difficile portare avanti il lavoro di salvataggio e conservazione.

L'impianto di irrigazione, il cui progetto è stato già approvato dall'ente regionale gestore delle risorse irrigue, prevede una condotta dalla valle che risalga per 1 km circa verso il frutteto, una cisterna di accumulo, una stazione di pompaggio e la conseguente ridistribuzione dell'acqua con irrigazione localizzata che consenta un uso sostenibile delle risorse idriche.

La realizzazione partirà a Primavera 2019 per concludersi entro l'estate.

🇬🇧️ The orchard of Archeologia Arborea is in need of water to survive: together let’s build an irrigation system.

A research project on the ancient, local varieties of fruit trees born 40 years ago in Central Italy. A race against time to save these trees from permanently disappearing.

As archeologists reconstruct civilizations from small fragments, Archeologia Arborea from a small apple has rediscovered worlds and cultures of entire communities.

The places where elderly farmers live are special. Talking with them, and above all, listening to their stories and testimonies, we have re-connected the broken threads of memory between old and new generations.

Research in abandoned farms, in monastery gardens and other cultivated places destroyed by industrial development, has brought to light varieties of trees which can again stand as witness to a dwindling rural culture and forgotten knowledge from which to build a future.

Every day we discover how extraordinary our patrimony is and how fast and final is its disappearance…

Rediscovering dozens of varieties of apples, pears, figs and other species, the Orchard Collection and ONLUS Foundation of Archeologia Arborea, works to preserve this incredible patrimony.

Every year we organize conferences, pomological shows, and research and participate in national and international projects. We write and have written about us articles, documentaries, video segments, and books. We have been recognized nationally and internationally for our continuing dedication to the preservation of this patrimony.

The great orchard of Archeologia Arborea has become the repository of genetic material and culture, to share with new generations to come.

The Irrigation System

An irrigation system is fundamental to the survival of the existing plants and those we continue to save. In recent years we have seen more frequent episodes of drought, which have endangered greatly the orchard. Without an irrigation system it will become increasingly difficult to continue the work of their saving and preservation.

Our irrigation system project has already been approved by the regional office of aquatic resources, and entails a transportation (pipe?) for water from the valley one kilometer below the orchard, a cistern to store water, a pumping station and a system to re-distribute the water through localized irrigation that allows a sustainable use of the water.

The realization of this project will begin in the spring of 2019 and conclude before the end of summer, 2019.
