Il Pesce d’Oro nasce nel 2016 come spazio di ricerca. 
Non una compagnia, non un collettivo nel senso tradizionale: un luogo in cui interrogare l’essere umano prima ancora del linguaggio scenico. Per anni abbiamo lavorato così, in profondità, quasi in silenzio, attraversando pratiche, visioni, tentativi.
Negli ultimi anni abbiamo scelto di aprirci. Abbiamo iniziato a incontrare il territorio, a collaborare con realtà diverse, a condividere strumenti attraverso i nostri laboratori. È stato un passaggio importante: portare fuori ciò che era nato dentro. 

Non avevamo previsto una regia. Non era un obiettivo. Ma Il Pesce d’Oro è un progetto che raccoglie le tracce lungo il cammino. E quando l’attrice e danzatrice Simona Zanini mi ha consegnato il suo Diario Blu, chiedendomi di portarlo in scena, qualcosa si è aperto. 
Dopo una prima esitazione, abbiamo capito che non potevamo sottrarci. Quella richiesta è diventata una responsabilità. Una missione.

È così che nasce 
“Non so se il riso o la pietà prevale”. 

Un progetto enorme, a cui lavoriamo da tre anni. Un tempo necessario, anche perché — ad eccezione di Simona — il gruppo è composto da non professionisti. Non attori. Eppure, dentro questo “non essere” risiede la nostra identità: performer, artisti, studenti d’arte, ma anche OSS, interior designer, addetti alle pulizie… persone.
Da sempre, ciò che contraddistingue Il Pesce d’Oro è la cura. La ricerca ostinata di una qualità alta, rigorosa, viva — non costruita attraverso codici accademici, ma a partire dall’umano. Dalla creatura.

“Non so se il riso o la pietà prevale” è un attraversamento. Mostra cosa accade quando si riceve quella chiamata che non si vorrebbe mai ricevere. È un dialogo visivo con la morte, la rabbia, la resistenza, la memoria, la vita, gli Dei — o chi per loro.

In questi anni abbiamo costruito un linguaggio. Abbiamo sviluppato una nostra poetica della luce: un impianto scenico autonomo, in cui le luci sono vive, mosse dai performer stessi.
Ma c’è un altro elemento essenziale: tutto ciò che vedrete in scena è realizzato da noi. Costumi, maschere, elementi scenici — ogni dettaglio nasce all’interno del gruppo. Dalle mani dei membri stessi, che nel tempo hanno riconosciuto, sviluppato o scelto di studiare le proprie competenze. Non ci affidiamo a produzioni esterne: il lavoro prende forma dall’interno, cresce con noi, ci rappresenta fino in fondo. 

Ora siamo a un passaggio decisivo. 

Per portare questo lavoro alla sua forma compiuta abbiamo bisogno di strumenti concreti: luci adeguate alla nostra ricerca, materiali, realizzazioni sartoriali, dispositivi tecnici. 
Abbiamo bisogno, semplicemente, di poter sostenere i costi di ciò che abbiamo costruito con dedizione in questi anni. Per questo vi chiediamo supporto. 
Sostenere “Non so se il riso o la pietà prevale” significa sostenere un modo di fare arte che nasce dall’umano, che non separa il gesto dalla vita, che crede nella possibilità di creare bellezza e verità anche fuori dai percorsi convenzionali.

Abbiamo fatto moltissimo. 
Ma da soli non basta. 
Ora abbiamo bisogno di voi.

Il Pesce d’Oro was born in 2016 as a space for research.
Not a theatre company, not a collective in the traditional sense: a place where we could question the human being even before theatrical language itself.
For years, we worked this way — deeply, almost silently — moving through practices, visions, and attempts. In recent years, we chose to open ourselves outward.
We began engaging with our local community, collaborating with different realities, and sharing tools through our workshops. That was an important shift: bringing what had been born inside out into the world. 

We never planned to direct a performance. It was never the goal. But Il Pesce d’Oro is a project that gathers traces along the way. And when actress and dancer Simona Zanini handed me her Blue Diary, asking me to bring it to the stage, something opened. 
After an initial hesitation, we understood we could not step away from it. That request became a responsibility. A mission.

That is how “Non so se il riso o la pietà prevale”emerged.

It is a vast project, one we have been working on for three years. Time was necessary — also because, with the exception of Simona, the group is made up of non-professionals, not actors. And yet, this “not being” is where our identity lies: performers, artists, art students, but also caregivers, interior designers, cleaners... people.
What has always distinguished Il Pesce d’Oro is care. The stubborn pursuit of a rigorous, vital quality — not built through academic codes, but rooted in the human being as a tangible presence.

“Non so se il riso o la pietà prevale” (lit. «I don’t know if laughter or pity prevails») embodies a passage. It shows what happens when you receive the call you would never want to receive. It is a visual dialogue with death, rage, resistance, memory, life, the gods — or whoever stands in their place.

Over these years, we have built a language. We have developed our own poetics of light: an autonomous scenic system in which light itself is alive, moved directly by the performers.
But there is another essential element: everything you will see on stage is made by us. Costumes, masks, scenic elements — every detail is created within the group. By the hands of its members, who over time have recognized, developed, or chosen to study their own skills.
We do not rely on external production structures: the work takes shape from within, grows with us, and represents us completely.

Now we have reached a decisive moment.

To bring this work to its full form, we need practical resources: lighting suited to our research, materials, costume work, technical equipment. Quite simply, we need to be able to cover the costs of what we have built with dedication over these years. That is why we are asking for your support. Supporting “Non so se il riso o la pietà prevale” means supporting a way of making art that begins from the human being — one that does not separate gesture from life, and that believes in the possibility of creating beauty and truth even outside conventional paths.

We have already done so much.
But alone, it is not enough.
Now we need you.
