Ciao, sono Patrizia,

più di 10 anni fa, dopo aver vissuto per vent’anni anni a Roma, ho scelto di ritornare al mio paese natale Ussita (MC) e trasformare la mia casa di famiglia in un B&B: La Casa dell'Ortigiana,  tra i monti Sibillini, con il monte Bove che vigila dall'alto. Non era solo un B&B, era il posto dove ogni ospite si sentiva come a casa, dove i ritmi erano lenti, dove curavo il mio orto sinergico e le erbe aromatiche, dove le colazioni, con prodotti a km 0 e del territorio, duravano ore perché c'era sempre una storia da raccontare. 

Poi, ad agosto del 2016, è iniziato lo sciame sismico che ha distrutto il centro Italia e il 26 e il 30 ottobre del 2016, in pochi secondi, il terremoto ha portato via tutto quel sogno: le pareti che avevano accolto tanti sorrisi, la cucina dove preparavo le colazioni e ogni progetto e obiettivo che mi ero fissata, ogni oggetto della casa, senza poter recuperare nulla…  Dove prima c’era la vita è rimasto solo il silenzio, un mucchio di macerie e recensioni su tripadvisor che invecchiavano velocemente. 

Mi sono reinventata professionalmente e ho cercato di non abbattermi, anche se la ricostruzione è stata dura, difficile, frustrante e dolorosa, anche a causa di un cancro che ha deciso di venirmi a bussare alla porta, di una burocrazia complessae piena di ostacoli.  Abbiamo affrontato tutto, giorno dopo giorno, insieme allo studio C28 di Fabriano con cui siamo oggi arrivati alla ricostruzione della mia casa, della Casa dell’Ortigiana . 

Ho lasciato che gli eventi facessero il loro corso, in attesa che le procedure diventassero fatti concreti perchè, anche se avevo paura di fare programmi dopo tutto quello che avevo attraversato, dentro di me ho sempre creduto che questo posto meritasse di rinascere, che la montagna avesse ancora bisogno di chi la ama davvero. 

E ora, finalmente, dopo quasi 10 anni la casa è di nuovo in piedi. Ho scelto di ricostruire una casa passiva in legno, avvalendomi della professionalità della  ditta Castellani - case in legno di Ancona  anche loro un’azienda del territorio, perché mi sembrava una giusta chiusura del cerchio.  

E’ stato difficile in questi mesi immaginare una casa “sulla carta”, non l'avevo mai fatto ed è stato emozionante vederla prendere forma, con le pareti a delimitare lo spazio e un tetto che ripara dalla pioggia. Uno spazio astratto sta diventando concreto e subito la mia mente ha iniziato a immaginarlo: “ qua ci metto il tavolo, qui il divano che ho in casetta, qui il tappeto marrone…”. 

Manca l'ultimo passo: riempirla di nuovo di tutto quello che serve per accogliere, perché non ho potuto recuperare nulla dalla mia vecchia casa e, da ordinanza dello stato, la ricostruzione non prevede fondi per gli arredi, quello che rende una casa, "casa". Laddove possibile mi sto organizzando con materiali da riciclo e riuso, come è stato e sarà lo spirito della casa, ma il nuovo assetto prevede 3 livelli di circa 45 mq cadauno e alcuni mobili devono essere su misura. Il frigo, la cucina, il tavolo, la lavasciuga, i letti, gli elettrodomestici, i materassi e tanto altro. 

Mi servono 23.000 euro per potervi accogliere e abitare insieme questa nuova casa, per far tornare le chiacchiere davanti al caminetto o la colazione all’alba tutti insieme prima di partire per un trekking. Ogni contributo, grande o piccolo che sia, è importante. Potete prenotare una notte in anticipo, partecipare alle passeggiate che i miei amici e amiche guida hanno messo a disposizione o a delle giornate specifiche sull’importanza della nutrizione; potete aggiungere il vostro nome sulla parete dei tanti “grazie” che devo a tutte e tutti coloro che in questi anni non mi hanno mai lasciata sola, o rilassarvi con la tintura madre prodotta con la melissa che in questi anni di abbandono è cresciuta in modo indisciplinato e rigoglioso nell’orto. 

Chi c’è stato in passato lo sa già: questo è il posto dove tornare ogni volta che avete bisogno di ritrovare voi stessi. Ci siamo quasi. È un’accoglienza che torna a vivere, dove il turismo lento e rispettoso può mettere radici, dove chi viene sui Sibillini trova ancora l'accoglienza vera, non solo un posto dove dormire ma dove trovare la cura.

Aiutatemi a riaprire La Casa dell'Ortigiana e dimostrare insieme che dopo ogni terremoto, la vita sa ripartire, e che i sogni condivisi sono i più belli da realizzare.

More than 10 years ago, after living in Rome for twenty years, I chose to return to my hometown of Ussita (MC) and transform my family home into a B&B: La Casa dell'Ortigiana, nestled in the Sibillini Mountains, with Monte Bove watching over from above. It wasn't just a B&B — it was the place where every guest felt at home, where the pace was slow, where I tended my synergic vegetable garden and aromatic herbs, where breakfasts, made with local and zero-kilometre products, lasted for hours because there was always a story to tell.

Then, in August 2016, the seismic swarm began that devastated central Italy, and on October 26th and 30th, 2016, in just a few seconds, the earthquake took everything away: the walls that had welcomed so many smiles, the kitchen where I prepared breakfasts, every project and goal I had set for myself, every object in the house — with no chance to save anything. Where there had once been life, only silence remained, a pile of rubble, and TripAdvisor reviews that were ageing quickly.

I reinvented myself professionally and tried not to give up, even though the reconstruction was hard, difficult, frustrating and painful — made even harder by a cancer that decided to knock on my door, and by a complex bureaucracy full of obstacles. We faced everything, day by day, together with Studio C28 in Fabriano, and today we have finally reached the reconstruction of my home, of La Casa dell'Ortigiana.

I let events take their course, waiting for procedures to turn into concrete facts, because even though I was afraid to make plans after everything I had been through, deep down I always believed that this place deserved to be reborn — that the mountain still needed those who truly love it.

And now, finally, after almost 10 years, the house is standing again. I chose to rebuild a passive timber house, with the help of the skilled team at Castellani - case in legno from Ancona — also a local company — because it felt like the right way to close the circle.

It was difficult in these months to imagine a house "on paper" — I had never done it before — and it was moving to watch it take shape, with walls defining the space and a roof sheltering from the rain. An abstract space is becoming real, and my mind has already started imagining it: "here I'll put the table, there the sofa from the cottage, here the brown rug…"

One last step remains: filling it again with everything needed to welcome guests, because I was unable to save anything from my old home, and by government order, the reconstruction does not include funding for furnishings — the things that make a house a home. Where possible, I'm organising myself with recycled and reused materials, as has always been and will continue to be the spirit of this house, but the new layout has 3 floors of approximately 45 sqm each, and some furniture needs to be custom-made. The fridge, the kitchen, the table, the washer-dryer, the beds, the appliances, the mattresses and much more.

I need €23,000 to be able to welcome you and share this new home together — to bring back the chats by the fireplace or the dawn breakfast all together before setting off on a hike. Every contribution, large or small, matters. You can book a night in advance, join the walks that my friends and guide companions have made available, or participate in specific days focused on the importance of nutrition. You can add your name to the wall of thanks I owe to all those who have never left me alone these years, or simply relax with the mother tincture made from the lemon balm that, in these years of abandonment, has grown wild and lush in the garden.

Those who have been here before already know: this is the place to come back to every time you need to find yourself again. We're almost there. It's a hospitality that comes back to life — where slow and respectful tourism can take root, where those who come to the Sibillini Mountains find true welcome, not just a place to sleep, but a place to be cared for.

Help me reopen La Casa dell'Ortigiana and show together that after every earthquake, life knows how to start again — and that shared dreams are the most beautiful ones to make come true.
