Dinnanzi ad un bivio affettivo, un giovane musicista dovrà scegliere se preservare la purezza della sua relazione o se lasciarsi infatuare dal desiderio carnale, in una realtà a lui totalmente estranea.

Faced with an emotional crossroads, a young musician will have to choose between preserving the purity of his relationship or allowing himself to be infatuated by carnal desire in a reality that is totally foreign to him.

SINOSSI

Artur, Rebecca e Kate sono tre ragazzi inglesi che stanno percorrendo un piccolo tour musicale all’interno di tante piccole realtà italiane. I primi due sono i musicisti e coppia di fatto del trio. Rebecca è la voce e musa del giovane Artur che l’accompagna con le corde della sua chitarra. Il ritmo dei loro brani è scandito dal suono della vecchia macchina fotografica di Kate, che impressiona tutti gli attimi del loro viaggio. Arrivati tra le vie strette e labirintiche di un piccolo borgo del nord Italia, si sentono subito avvolti da un forte legame che attira i loro occhi sulle facciate dei tanti palazzi e cattedrali affrescate. Ed è lo stesso legame che risveglia dolci emozioni e sguardi tra Artur e Kate. Messo alla prova con se stesso, Artur si trova di fronte a un bivio esistenziale: lasciarsi infatuare dalla leggerezza e dolcezza che accompagna un momento di défaillance oppure continuare a nutrire e a far crescere un legame dall’apparenza indissolubile con Rebecca.

SYNOPSIS

Artur, Rebecca and Kate are three English teenagers who are on a small musical tour through many small Italian cities. The first two are the musicians and de  facto couple of the trio. Rebecca is the voice and muse of young Artur, who accompanies her on the strings of his guitar. The rhythm of their songs is marked  by the sound of Kate's film camera, which captures all the moments of their journey.  Arriving in the narrow, labyrinthine streets of a small village in northern  Italy, they immediately feel enveloped by a strong bond that draws their eyes to the facades of the many frescoed palaces and cathedrals. And it is the same  bond that awakens sweet emotions and glances between Artur and Kate. Challenged with himself, Artur is faced with an existential crossroads: to allow  himself to be infatuated by the lightness and sweetness that accompanies a moment of défaillance or to continue to nurture and grow a seemingly  unbreakable bond with Rebecca.

NOTE DI REGIA

Desire è un film breve che nasce da un racconto scritto più un anno fa. Prende forma da una lunga riflessione sul senso del “tradimento” all’interno di una relazione.

Che cosa significa realmente “tradire”?

Spesso lo si riconduce ad un atto carnale e fisico, quando in realtà ciò che ferisce è una condivisione di sentimenti o emozioni uniche che ci lega con il nostro partner. Sentimenti unici come l’intesa nel dar vita a molteplici composizioni musicali che sanciscono la purezza della loro relazione.

In questo film breve, ho voluto “giocare” con una continua e costante presenza di più espressioni artistiche che coinvolgono i tre protagonisti.

Una costante presenza di più forme d’arte che accompagna il cammino dei tre viaggiatori pronti a interfacciarsi con realtà sempre più distanti a loro. Quest’ultimo aspetto fa da cassa di risonanza dello spaesamento psicologico di Artur, dove anche all’interno della casa che li ospiterà per quei pochi giorni, si trova circondato da mura adornate da grandi dipinti, bassorilievi e antichi arazzi. Tra queste manifestazioni artistiche e le intricate vie del borgo, Artur deve riuscire a trovare la retta via che possa far luce tra suoi pensieri.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

Desire is a short film based on a short story written over a year ago. It takes shape from a long reflection on the meaning of "betrayal" within a relationship.

What does "betrayal" really mean?

Often it is reduced to a carnal and physical act, when in reality what hurts is a sharing of unique feelings or emotions that binds us to our partner.            Feelings as unique as the understanding in giving life to multiple musical compositions that sanction the purity of their relationship.

In this short film, I wanted to "play" with a continuous and constant presence of multiple artistic expressions involving the three protagonists.

A constant presence of several forms of art that accompanies the journey of the three travellers ready to interface with realities that are increasingly distant from them. This latter aspect acts as a sounding board for Artur's psychological disorientation, where even inside the house that will host them for those few days, he finds himself surrounded by walls adorned with large paintings, bas-reliefs and ancient tapestries. Between these artistic manifestations and the intricate streets of the village, Artur must manage to find the right way to shed light on his thoughts.

CHI È IL REGISTA

Nato il 9 gennaio del 1995, Luca ha sempre vissuto all’interno delle mura del borgo di Bergamo alta. Dopo il  diploma presso l’istituto tecnico Caterina Caniana in grafica e arti multimediali, appassionato dei molteplici aspetti legati all’audio si iscrive ad un diploma di 6 mesi alla SAE di Londra in Electronic Music Production. Terminato il diploma, frequenta il corso “Media Design - Filmmaking” presso la Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti dove ne consegue la laurea con il massimo dei voti nel giugno 2021. Nel corso degli studi ha avuto modo di poter iniziare a lavorare sui primi set professionali che gli hanno permesso di poter avere un occhio sui molteplici aspetti di questo lavoro. Avendo alle spalle precedenti cortometraggi, la sua “magnifica ossessione” si è fatta sempre più presente fino a diventare sogno e aspirazione da realizzare.

WHO IS THE DIRECTOR?

Born on 9 January 1995, Luca has always lived within the walls of the town of Bergamo Alta. After graduating from the technical institute Caterina Caniana in  graphics and multimedia arts, passionate about the many aspects of audio, he enrolled in a 6-month diploma at SAE in London in Electronic Music  Production. After completing his diploma, he attended the "Media Design - Filmmaking" course at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti where he graduated with  top marks in June 2021. During his studies he was able to start working on his first professional sets, which allowed him to have an eye on the many aspects  of this job. With previous short films behind him, his "magnificent obsession" became more and more present until it became a dream and an aspiration to be  realised.

PERCHÉ IL CROWFUNDING?

Il cortometraggio, sostenuto dal comune di Bergamo, è in fase di preproduzione e, dopo mesi di problematiche legate alla pandemia in corso, le riprese avranno finalmente luogo dal 13 al 19 settembre 2021. Il progetto è totalmente autofinanziato e il ricavato verrà impiegato per ricoprire parte delle spese legate alla produzione del set come attrezzature, locations, attori e scenografia. Inoltre una fase fondamentale della realizzazione è dedicata a montaggio, sound design e color correction che richiede anch’essa un impiego del ricavato che ci siamo posti di riuscire a raggiungere. Questo è per poter permettere di riuscire ad ottenere un risultato che possa rendere tutto il più coinvolgente possibile. Infine, un’ultima parte del ricavato verrà impiegata per la fase di distribuzione festivaliera cinematografica nazionale e internazionale. Ci sono più modi per riuscire a contribuire, partendo da una cifra simbolica fino a diventare co-produttori del nostro progetto. L’obiettivo è molto ambizioso ma ci teniamo a dire che anche il minimo contributo può fare la differenza. Oltre che ad aiutare la “macchina” produttiva, questo gesto potrebbe spronare dei giovani creativi che desiderano di portare a termine una produzione molto ambiziosa. Ogni tipo di contributo e parola spesa per il progetto sarà fondamentale e verrà accompagnata da un aggiornamento sulla fase di realizzazione.

WHY CROWFUNDING?

The short film, supported by the patronage of Bergamo, is in the pre-production phase and, after months of problems linked to the ongoing pandemic,  shooting will finally take place from 13 to 19 September 2021. The project is totally self-financed and the proceeds will be used to cover part of the expenses  linked to the production of the set, such as equipment, locations, actors and scenography. Furthermore, a fundamental phase of the production is dedicated to  editing, sound design and colour correction, which also requires the use of the proceeds, which we have set ourselves the goal of achieving. This is so that  we can achieve a result that makes everything as engaging as possible. Finally, a final part of the proceeds will be used for the national and international film  festival distribution phase. There are several ways to contribute, starting from a symbolic amount up to becoming co-producers of our project. The objective is   very ambitious but we would like to say that even the smallest contribution can make a difference. As well as helping the production "machine", this gesture  could spur on young creatives who wish to carry out a very ambitious production. Every kind of contribution and word spent on the project will be fundamental  and will be accompanied by an update on the implementation phase.
