Get Big è il primo docufilm italiano che parla dell'Ultimate Frisbee.

L'Ultimate Frisbee è uno sport nato nella controcultura degli anni '60, nei campus universitari americani.

Definito “lo sport definitivo” dai suoi creatori, nasce come mix di altri sport tra cui rugby, football americano e basket.

È caratterizzato dallo Spirito del Gioco, un mix di fairplay, autoarbitraggio e sportività: a qualsiasi livello è giocato senza l'ausilio di un arbitro e tutte le contese vengono risolte sul campo dai giocatori.

A giugno 2016 abbiamo sentito parlare per la prima volta dell'Ultimate Frisbee, chi ne parlava sembrava stregato...non abbiamo saputo resistere: dovevamo capire perchè e dovevamo raccontarlo!

Crediamo che questo sport, insieme all'ambiente e ai valori che porta con se, meriti un'esposizione mediatica e un seguito decisamente maggiori.

Non siamo frisbeesti (per ora) e abbiamo deciso di mantenere un punto di vista esterno per tutta la durata del progetto.

Per realizzare il docufilm abbiamo intrapreso un viaggio. Un viaggio di scoperta all'interno del mondo dell'Ultimate Frisbee: il punto di vista sono i nostri occhi.
Da non frisbeesti morivamo dalla voglia di scoprire e di far vedere a tutti cosa rende questo mondo così "magico"!

A farci da guida sono stati i BeeFree, la squadra di Ultimate di Torino, li abbiamo seguiti negli allenamenti, nel Campionato Italiano e ai tornei. Insomma, siamo entrati un po' nelle loro vite!

Molti dei BeeFree (e non solo loro!) ci hanno raccontato ed emozionato con le loro storie legate allo sport e a come abbia cambiato la loro vita!

In questi mesi abbiamo conosciuto e ripreso moltissime persone legate all'Ultimate italiano e internazionale e tutti ci hanno sostenuto e dato un sacco di carica e di gioia!

Nei link (e nella gallery!) alcune clip per darvi un assaggio di quello che sarà il docufilm e quello che è stato il viaggio che abbiamo intrapreso!

Qui eravamo agli inizi, conoscevamo le regole e conoscevamo l'Ultimate da alcuni racconti. Era dicembre e, che rimanga tra noi, non riuscivamo (ancora) a capire davvero come mai i frisbeesti adorassero così tanto questo sport.

Qui siamo andati in trasferta...SUNDISC! Il nostro primo torneo hat è stato sulle spiagge della Sardegna (mica male come inizio!). Ci siamo divertiti un sacco...e ustionati parecchio! Abbiamo conosciuto gente di tutto il mondo e abbiamo finalmente capito un po' di più quello che rende l'Ultimate unico. Ma un'immagine vale più di mille parole, guardate voi stessi!

Qui un po' di carica con alcune immagini legate al Campionato, ammettiamo che rimanere imparziali seguendo una squadra non è facile, probabilmente non sempre ci siamo riusciti (ebbene sì, qualche urlo nello shooting è nostro...)!

Allo stato attuale lo shooting è praticamente finito. Abbiamo il materiale ed è INCREDIBILE!

Ora dobbiamo far prendere vita a questo film e...NON VEDIAMO L'ORA!

Salvo imprevisti il film sarà pronto per fine 2017.

Ci occuperemo del montaggio del film quest'estate ma la fase di post-produzione non significa soltanto montaggio.

Abbiamo intenzione di rendere il nostro film davvero super, come si merita.

E come si merita l'Ultimate.

Quello che sembrava essere un gioco da spiaggia o da fare con i cani (esiste una disciplina, lo sapevate?! Si chiama Disc Dog!) in realtà è un mondo di salti, azioni spettacolari, punti, mete, lanci, sorrisi, cadute, sudore, gioia, amicizie, amori, storie di vita.

Ci sentiamo fortunati: davanti ai nostri occhi (e alle nostre videocamere) è passato tutto questo, e molto molto di più!

Adesso è ora di mostrarlo al mondo.

ENGLISH VERSION

Get Big is the first documentary in Italy about Ultimate Frisbee.

Ultimate Frisbee is a sport born in the counterculture of the 60’s in American university campuses.

Described by its creators as “the ultimate game”, it is formed as a mix of other sports including rugby, American football, and basketball.

Characterised by the Spirit of the Game, a mix of fariplay, self-refereeing, and sportsmanship, Ultimate is played in absence of a referee at every level. All disputes are settled between the players on the field.

We heard about Ultimate Frisbee for the first time in June 2016. The one describing it to us seemed enchanted… we couldn't resist: we had to understand why and tell the story!

We are two filmakers, Elena Beatrice and Daniele Lince. You can discover our works and something about us here, here, and here!

We believe that this sport, and above all the environment and the values it carries with it deserves media exposure and greater recognition in the world of sports.

We are not frisbee players (for now) and have decided to maintain an external perspective for the entire duration of the project.

In order to realise this documentary we have begun a journey. A journey of discovery within the world of Ultimate Frisbee: viewed from our eyes. As non-players we were dying from the desire to discover and showcase everything that makes this world so magical!

To guide us were the BeeFree, Turin’s Ultimate Frisbee team. We followed them in their practices, in their Italian league matches, and to various tournaments. 

We were touched by many of the BeeFree’s (and others’!) stories and their tales of how the sport has impacted their lives.

In these months we have met and filmed numerous persons associated with both the Italian and International Ultimate movement and they have all given us their support, filling us with determination and energy!

In the link (and in the gallery) are some short clips to give you a taste of the documentary and of the journey that we have made so far!

Here we are at the beginning, learning the rules and about Ultimate from a few stories. It was December and, between us, we couldn’t (yet) really understand why this sport was so loved by those playing it.

Here we are on the road… SUNDISC! Our first hat tournament taking place on Sardinia beaches (not such a bad way to begin!). We enjoyed ourselves immensely… with the sunburn to attest!

We met people from all over the world and finally understood a bit of that which makes Ultimate unique: the environment that surrounds this sport. They say a picture says a thousand words, see for yourself!

Here is some intensity from a few images from the Italian championships. We must admit that remaining impartial following a team so closely is not easy. We probably did not always manage! (a few cheers in the shooting are ours, we confess!)

POST-PRODUCTION

In its current state the shooting is practicably finished. We have the material and it is INCREDIBLE!

Now we must bring the film to life… WE CANNOT WAIT!

Barring any unexpected incidents, the film will be ready for the end of 2017.

We will deal with the film’s assembly this summer but the post-production base is not limited to just editing.

We intend to make our film spectacular, as the sport deserves.

And what does Ultimate deserve!

That which seemed to be a game for the beach or with dogs (yes it does exist as its own discipline! It’s called Disc Dog!) is actually a universe of leaps, impressive plays, goals, points, throws, dives, sweat, joy, friendship, love, and life stories.

We feel lucky: all this, and much much more happened before our very own eyes (and cameras)!
