Il progetto:

L'Electric Pink Moon Project è un quartetto di musicisti italiani e americani il cui scopo è quello di registrare e pubblicare una versione “elettrica e ritmica” dell'intero album di Nick Drake "Pink Moon", l’ultima produzione del cantautore inglese pubblicata nel 1972, solo due anni prima della sua morte prematura avvenuta a soli 26 anni. L'album originale venne registrato utilizzando solo una chitarra acustica, qualche nota di pianoforte e la voce, quindi l'idea era di creare una versione completamente diversa, più vicina a una dimensione "rock" e con un impulso più dinamico. Batteria, chitarre elettriche e basso elettrico entrarono in scena, così come una voce femminile, e il progetto è decollato. Luciano Margorani, il chitarrista del gruppo, pensava ad un simile rifacimento da quando aveva tredici anni (!), e ascoltò per la prima volta l'album acquistato dal fratello maggiore nel 1974. Gli ci è voluto un po 'di tempo per trovare la corretta ispirazione, i musicisti adatti e il momento giusto per far decollare il progetto. I musicisti:
The Electric Pink Moon è composto da un quartetto di musicisti talentuosi e di estrazione molto varia, provenienti da diversi background avant-prog e sono, rigorosamente in ordine alfabetico:

Luciano Margorani - chitarre elettriche (chitarrista e improvvisatore, è attivo nel mondo della musica improvvisata e dell'avant-rock sin dal 1982, anno di fondazione del duo La 1919 con l'amico musicista Piero Chianura)

Deborah Perry - voce (ha collaborato con Dave Willey in numerosi progetti come Hamster Theatre, Thinking Plague e nei suoi lavori solisti)

Dave Willey - basso elettrico (è conosciuto per essere il co-fondatore del gruppo avant-rock Hamster Theatre ed è anche membro dei Thinking Plague e dei 3 Mice)

Federico Zenoni - batteria e percussioni (illustratore, batterista autodidatta e psico-editore. Prima di questo progetto con Luciano non aveva mai ascoltato una sola canzone di Nick Drake !!!)

Registrazione e montaggio a distanza:

Le 11 tracce (1 strumentale e 10 canzoni) sono state tutte registrate separatamente; batteria, percussioni e chitarra elettrica sono stati registrati insieme da Federico e Luciano dal vivo nel loro studio di Milano, tra dicembre 2017 e febbraio 2018. Questa traccia base è stata quindi inviata via web a Deborah e Dave che hanno successivamente registrato le loro parti nei loro studi negli Stati Uniti. Attualmente, il quartetto ha registrato circa la metà dell'album ed il lavoro in studio dovrebbe essere completato entro la fine di giugno. Finanziamento: Per coprire le spese relative al missaggio, alla masterizzazione e alla stampa di un'adeguata quantità di copie su CD, che è la fase successiva e più importante del progetto, è stato quantificato un importo di € 2500. The Project:

The Electric Pink Moon Project is a quartet of Italian and American musicians whose aim is to record and release an electric and rhythmic version of Nick Drake's entire solo album "Pink Moon", his last production released in 1972, only two years before his premature death at 26.

The original album was recorded in a bare acoustic guitar and male vocal setting, so the idea was to create a totally different version, closer to a "rock" dimension and with a more dynamic pulse. Drums, electric guitars and electric bass came into the picture, as well as a female vocalist, and the project soon took off. Luciano Margorani, the guitar player of the group, had first thought of such a remake when he was thirteen (!), and listened to his older brother's album for the first time in 1974. It therefore took him quite some time to find the right inspiration, fellow-musicians and timing to make the idea come to life.

About the Musicians:

The members of the The Electric Pink Moon Project form a talented and varied quartet from different avant-prog backgrounds, and are, strictly in alphabetical order:

Luciano Margorani - electric guitars (guitarist and improvisor, he has been active on the avant-rock front since 1982, when he formed the La 1919 group with fellow musician Piero Chianura)

Deborah Perry - vocals (she has worked with DaveWilley on numerous projects since forever, including Hamster Theatre, Thinking Plague, his solo work, among other offshoot projects)

Dave Willey - electric bass (he is best known as the co-founder and member of the avant-rock group Hamster Theatre and is also a member of Thinking Plague and 3 Mice).

Federico Zenoni - drums and percussion (illustrator, self-taught drummer and psycho-editor. Before this project with Luciano, he had never heard a song by Nick Drake !!!)

Long distance recording and assembly:

The 11 tracks (1 instrumental and 10 songs) were recorded separately; drums, percussion and guitar were recorded together by Federico and Luciano live in the studio in Milan, Italy between December 2017 and February 2018, This base track was then electronically sent to Deborah and Dave who have subsequently been recording their parts in their U.S. studios. Currently, they have roughly completed about half of the album, and it is expected to be fully recorded by the end of June.

Funding:

In order to cover the expenses related to mixing, mastering and printing an adequate amount of copies on CD, which is the next and most important phase of the Project, an estimated amount of € 2500 has been identified.
