Il Progetto

How it started..

Anyone who sets foot on European soil must, upon arrival, have all rights as laid down in the European founding treaty! All people must have access to adequate housing! All people have the right to humane working conditions and fair wages without discrimination! (Manifesto of the Revolt of Dignity)
Currently, the Italian authorities are closing some of the largest ghettos in southern Italy, without proposing an alternative for the people living there. During the tomato and fruit harvest season, thousands of migrants are living and working in these regions under inhumane conditions in the fields. With the closure of the ghettos, they are once again displaced from their homes.

The film shooting for Milo Rau’s The New Gospel brought together associations and activists in the region, who have decided to continue their work and cooperation in creating a network of Houses of Dignity.

The Houses of Dignity..

In addition to intensive campaigning and networking, Houses of Dignity are founded in Puglia and Basilicata in the surroundings of the ghettos and the – in order to provide not only humane housing, but also to create an exemplary political solution for the ghettos in southern Italy. The aim is to support the residents in their autonomy and self-determination. The residents of the “Houses of Dignity” will be hired by neighboring companies and farmers under legal conditions and will thus be able to earn their livelihoods. The houses are organized in a self-managed manner through cooperatives founded by the residents. They produce the “Food of the Rivolta” that is food, which makes it autonomous from large organized distribution, which is produced without chemical fertilizers or herbicides, free from the exploitation of land and humans or animals. A new, humane, sustainable and realistic model of housing and self-administration will be created.

Who we are..

Casa Sankara

The Association Ghetto Out - Casa Sankara in San Severo has long-term experience in accommodating and supporting migrants in the region. They provide housing on self-managed basis for 500 people.

Papa Latyr Faye

comes from Senegal and has lived in Italy for the last 12 years. Worked as a street seller. From 2013 has been involved in cultural mediation projects. President of the association “Ghetto Out Casa Sankara”. Works for social inclusion and fights against exploitation systems.

Mbaye Ndiaye

born in Dakar, Senegal in 1960. Technical training in accounting and director of a real estate agency. Came to Italy in 2006. Founder of «Ghetto Out Casa Sankara» and cooperative «Africa di Vittorio ». Has been fighting the corporalato ever since to see Casa Sankara become an alternative to the ghettos

AgricoLa Leggera

AgricoLa Leggera defends the environment from attacks by governments and multinationals, disseminates and practices an ecological and sustainable agro-agriculture producing healthy and genuine food, organizes courses on knowledge of food, proposes and practices a model of rural life in connection with nature.

Vito Castoro

was born in Altamura in 1982. The son of two farmers, a farmer himself, he has dedicated his life to combine ecology and agriculture. Founder of the producers’ network “Campo Libero” with which he organizes markets, fairs and events in cities near Matera.

No Cap - contro ogni forma de Caporalato negotiate contracts for workers with the farmers and companies in the region and guarantees fair products with its certificate.

Yvan Sagnet

was born 1985 in Cameroon, worked as a tomato picker and led the first farm workers’ strike in southern Italy. Since then he has been fighting against modern slavery in Italian agriculture

Together, the founders and Organizations will build (and continue to build) an infrasturcture of agricultural production for social wellbeing for migrants.

Concretly, your donations will be used for:

* Renovation works and basic infrastructure in the already existing houses

* Basic equippment such as a second vehicule

* Machinery for the cultivation of two additional hectars of land by AgricoLa Leggera with a focus on African vegetables such as Ocra and Igname (Yam).

Case della Dignità

– un’alternativa umana per i migranti che vivono nei ghetti del sud Italia

Come è iniziata...
Chiunque metta piede sul suolo europeo deve, all'arrivo, avere tutti i diritti previsti dal trattato istitutivo europeo! Tutti devono avere accesso a un alloggio adeguato! Tutti hanno diritto a condizioni di lavoro umane e a salari equi senza discriminazioni! (Per saperne di più, leggi il Manifesto della Rivolta della Dignità)
Attualmente, le autorità italiane stanno chiudendo alcuni dei più grandi ghetti del sud Italia, senza proporre un'alternativa per le persone che vi abitano. Durante la stagione della raccolta dei pomodori e della frutta, migliaia di migranti vivono e lavorano in queste regioni in condizioni disumane nei campi. Con la chiusura dei ghetti, sono di nuovo sfollati dalle loro case.
Le riprese di 'Il nuovo Vangelo' di Milo Rau hanno riunito associazioni e attivisti della regione, che hanno deciso di continuare il loro lavoro e la loro collaborazione per creare una rete di Case della Dignità.

Le Case della Dignità...
Oltre ad un'intensa attività di campagna e di networking, le Case della Dignità vengono fondate in Puglia e Basilicata nei dintorni dei ghetti, non solo per fornire abitazioni umane, ma anche per creare una soluzione politica esemplare per i ghetti del sud Italia. L'obiettivo è quello di sostenere i residenti nella loro autonomia e autodeterminazione. I residenti delle "Case della Dignità" saranno assunti da aziende e agricoltori limitrofi a condizioni legali e potranno così guadagnarsi da vivere. Le case sono organizzate in modo autogestito attraverso cooperative fondate dai residenti. Producono il "Cibo della Rivolta" che lo rende autonomo dalla grande distribuzione organizzata, che viene prodotto senza fertilizzanti chimici o erbicidi, libero dallo sfruttamento della terra, dell'uomo e degli animali. Verrà creato un nuovo modello umano, sostenibile e realistico di abitazione e di auto-amministrazione.

Insieme, i fondatori Papa Latyr Faye e Mbaye Ndiaye (Casa Sankara), Vito Castoro (AgricoLa Leggera) e Yvan Sagnet (No Cap) e le loro rispettive organizzazioni costruiranno (e continueranno a costruire) un'infrastruttura di produzione agricola per il benessere sociale dei migranti.

Concretamente, le vostre donazioni saranno utilizzate per:

* Lavori di ristrutturazione e infrastrutture di base nelle case già esistenti.

* Equipaggiamento di base come un secondo veicolo

* Macchine per la coltivazione di altri due ettari di terreno da parte di AgricoLa Leggera con particolare attenzione agli ortaggi africani come l'Ocra e l'Igname (Yam).
