Il Progetto

ENGLISH

The City Plaza is a refugee accommodation and solidarity space located in the heart of Athens. It was born in 2016, when a group of activists took over an abandoned hotel.
In addition to its own debt crisis, Greece is experiencing a dramatic rise in the number of refugees and migrants arriving on its shores. The country hosts at the moment more than 60.000 individuals, most of them stranded in camps and forced to live in inhuman conditions. Despite Greeks need far more help than they are getting, for themselves and for refugees, the international community doesn't seem to be taking action.

The City Plaza is currently accomodating more than 400 people in vulnerable situations, providing them not only with food and shelter, but dignity and a purpose too.
As there is not support from government, they literally survive from donations. I had the greatest pleasure to meet these families with a group of friends in 2016, and I can vouch for the integrity of the organisers, who work hand in hand with the residents to mantain the structure. There is no tolerance for racism, sexism or any kind of abuse. Some managed to get jobs and children are now attending Greek schools. It is that kind of place that feels like home, and you can't leave without a lump in your throat and the willing to contribute.

As I will be there on the first week of March, I'm raising funds again to help the City Plaza: if you care about this cause, I'm asking you a small contribution to support the community.
Thanks a million,

Constantina

ITALIANO

Constantina
