Il Progetto

Introduzione  (English version below)

E in stormo acquatico e rigorosamente alfabetico:
produzione Stefano Castagna, piano tastiere Felice Cosmo, contrabbasso Franco Cristaldi, basso Fiorenzo Delegà, chitarre Simone Massaron, voce Betty Vittori, batteria percussioni Federica Zanotti.

Note sulla produzione di Stefano Castagna

Introduction

Among the opaque pebbles and moorings, reeds were rustling with supple plumes, a minute and dry sound of tissue paper and dazzling ducks on the stone steps leading to the kitchen.
The east shone blue on water through the window, a glow arrising
from Baldo that slowly changed the state of the flowers in the garden and set fire to the evening along the line of Vó.
Beyond the caretaker’s gate a sheet of red poppies between the wheat  and tiny rambler roses besieged the chicken coop. A path of dust and tufts of grass spread out across the farmyard and then continued between agaves and violets to the other side of the lake.

My name is Betty Vittori and I was born and raised like that, fishing nets, spades in the garden and that idea of absolute beauty that forces you to look with different eyes. Everything was already music then, maybe a destiny that brought me here. A long story passes from the lake and the city where I live now, a story of travels and songs, family, children, happy, dissonant and suspended loves. Of those nights spent in a cellar playing, of impromptu bands, tours and a long line of great musicians, great people and friends forever. I arrived in Brescia by chance, a mysterious town for me floating over thirteen underground rivers and a small lake, lots of fountains and sudden gardens opening up through doorways for just a few eyes. I started writing again and this record was born. The days at the studios were beautiful, like coming back home and feeling I belonged. And for us peninsulans who have two shores, it was and is chasing horizons far away, laying down skies on the water, and therefore forging a lineage of aquatic dreamers.

And in aquatic and strictly alphabetical flock: production Stefano Castagna, piano and keyboards Felice Cosmo, double bass Franco Cristaldi, bass Fiorenzo Delegà, guitars Simone Massaron, drums and percussions Federica Zanotti.

Production notes by Stefano Castagna

The album recordings were made at the Ritmo&Blu Studio. The artistic project has been developed around nine songs, five written by Betty and four taken from the international repertoire of  Tony Levin, Paul Weller, Valerie Carter and dulcis in fundo Angel, a song of the Flying Foxes, Betty’s early band from the 80s.As for the musicians I decided to put alongside Felice Cosmo and Federica Zanotti, already present in live concerts, Simone Massaron a multi-faceted guitarist who has created moments that are sometimes unhinging  but always stimulating for the chosen pieces.

Production was minimal, I wanted Betty, who recorded almost the entire album live, to have the chance to face her music and her interpretations in a very natural way followed by a few tweaks as possible. The album title  is “Maria Elisabetta”, Betty’s first name.

There are a couple of collaborations with musicians such as Fiorenzo Delegà and Franco Cristaldi, bass player and co-founder of Flying Foxes, with whom Betty has a duet.
