Il Progetto

A tuk tuk for Anna Mary and her brothers is an economic inclusion micro project for a family, living in a small village in the rural area around Owerri, precisely in Umuode Ehime Mbano (Imo State), in Nigeria. The project is based on an idea of Eugenio Pezzi, in collaboration with Father John Okafor,  priest in the village, and Lucia Cilmi.

Anna Mary is 14 years old and lost her father 11 years ago, after a long illness and her mother suffers from severe psychic disease. She has three brothers: Peter (12 years old), Christopher (16 years old) and Christian (19 years old) who got a diploma at the public high school.

Christian is the head of the family, but unfortunately is unemployed, except some working days in the fields. The income he gets is not enough to guarantee food for his brothers and his mother, for the study and for health. The guys are receiving a small support from the nuns at every Christmas time, but the aid is not enough for their present and future needs.

Father John, priest in the village, has been their parent-like reference, taking care of them for a long time, but he has left it, from some months, for his new mission in Ghana.

The idea, on which the project is based, comes from Christian: if he had a tricycle, he could offer a transport service for peasants who struggle to reach the main city, for their needs.

The goal of this crowdfunding campaign, is to gather the funds to buy a tuk tuk, providing to this family, a permanent source of income.

Please, support us to make this project happen.
