That of children and street children is a phenomenon that continues unabated. Indeed, today takes on new aspects of the relentless urbanization and escape - in the poorest countries - from small towns and villages.
But it is also for children living in urban poverty which is meant the wide range of civil, political, social, cultural and economic rights recognized in international instruments on human rights. As quickly and widely ratified of these tools is the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Among the rights recognized in this document include survival, full development, protection from abuse, exploitation and discrimination, and the full participation in family, cultural and social.
Moroccan street children move and live the urban context only to exploit the resources necessary for survival but being invisible in the eyes of society.
Just take a trip to the center of Casablanca and in other districts of the city to see so many street children at traffic lights intent to sell scarves, bracelets and more. Children who beg, shine shoes, rummaging among the rubbish bins, take drugs and others to lend him money trying to be as loving as possible, distributing kisses here and there. What strikes me personally is the fact that many have no more than six years and are left entirely to themselves, without any kind of education or care. Street children wear on his body the marks of despair. Deep scars. As witnessed by this documentary filmed a couple of years ago.

Street children, you know, are fragile and subject to all kinds of exploitation and abuse. For example, it is estimated that, worldwide, 2.5 million were victims of human trafficking and forced labor by between 22% and 50% of trafficking victims are children . Often employers of these children are victims, they have no scruples, and their only intention is to use labor cost advantage invisibility of these children and inadequate controls by the authorities.
It is estimated that in Morocco working 177,000 children under the age of 15, 60,000 of them as pets. This, I repeat, although the country to accede to the UN Convention, which places clear restrictions on the use of children in the workplace. Many surveys and articles have been published to bring to light the issue and stories that would otherwise remain unknown, such as Noura, a child who has reached groped suicide to avoid the violence suffered by employers
In Morocco there are reception centers primary able to face, for a limited number of children, basic needs followed the first contact in the street but lack facilities capable of following the path of social reintegration of the beneficiaries.
I had the pleasure of working with a local association "Wilidat lkhir" based in Casablanca, was born about a year, whose volunteers raise funds with which buy food, clothing and basic necessities which are then distributed at hospitals ,

to people in need and in neighborhoods where there is a high percentage of street children.

The association Wlidat Lkher was born with the intention of helping the street children of the city of Casablanca and soon realized that one of the children is a phenomenon that affects all of Morocco. The main office is located in Casablanca, but there are other smaller venues and travano Fes El Jadida, Marrakesh, Tangier, Agadir, Meknes, etc ...
There is no greater satisfaction for us to see the joy in people that we can help with our association! We have helped more than 10,000 children and continue to do so.
Every day we face many difficulties, but thanks to the tenacity and good will of volunteers, we can carry out our projects.

Marocco, bambini figli della strada

Quello dei bambini e ragazzi di strada è un fenomeno che non accenna a diminuire. Anzi, oggi assume nuovi aspetti legati all’incessante urbanizzazione e fuga – nei Paesi più poveri – dai piccoli centri e dai villaggi.

Ma è anche ai bambini che vivono in condizioni di povertà urbana che è destinata la vasta gamma di diritti civili, politici, sociali, culturali ed economici riconosciuti dagli strumenti  internazionali per i diritti umani. Il più rapidamente e ampiamente ratificato di questi strumenti è la Convenzione sui diritti dell’infanzia e dell’adolescenza. Tra i diritti riconosciuti in questo Documento figurano la sopravvivenza, il pieno sviluppo, la protezione dagli abusi, dallo sfruttamento e dalla discriminazione nonché la piena partecipazione alla vita familiare, culturale e sociale.

In Marocco i bambini di strada si muovono e vivono il contesto urbano esclusivamente per sfruttarne le risorse necessarie alla sopravvivenza ma rendendosi invisibili agli occhi della società.

Basta fare un giro per il centro di Casablanca e in altri quartieri della città per vedere così tanti bambini di strada ai semafori intenti a vendere fazzoletti, braccialetti ed altro. Bambini che mendicano, lustrano scarpe, frugano fra i cassonetti dell’immondizia, si drogano e altri che per farsi dare dei soldi cercano di essere il più affettuosi possibile, distribuendo baci qua e là. Ciò che personalmente mi colpisce è il fatto che molti hanno non più di 6 anni e sono lasciati completamente a se stessi, senza alcun tipo di educazione o cura. I bambini di strada portano sul proprio corpo i segni della disperazione. Cicatrici profonde. Come testimoniato da questo documentario girato un paio di anni fa.

I bambini di strada, si sa, sono fragili e soggetti ad ogni tipo di sfruttamento e abuso. Per esempio, si stima che, in tutto il mondo, 2,5 milioni siano state le vittime del traffico di esseri umani costrette al lavoro forzato e una percentuale compresa tra il 22% e il 50% delle vittime di questi traffici è composta da bambini. Spesso i datori di lavoro di cui questi bambini cadono vittime, non hanno alcun scrupolo, e il loro unico intento è quello di utilizzare manodopera a costo zero approfittando dell’invisibilità di questi minori e dei controlli carenti da parte delle autorità.

Si calcola che in Marocco lavorano 177.000 bambini al di sotto dei 15 anni, 60.000 dei quali come domestici. Questo, ripeto, sebbene il Paese aderisca alla Convenzione Onu, che pone precise restrizioni per l’impiego di minori sui luoghi di lavoro. Molte inchieste e articoli sono stati pubblicati per portare alla luce la questione e storie che altrimenti rimarrebbero sconosciute, come quella di Noura, una bambina che è arrivata a tentare il suicidio per evitare le violenze subite dai datori di lavoro

In Marocco esistono centri di accoglienza primaria capaci di fronteggiare, per un numero limitato di bambini, i bisogni primari seguiti al primo contatto in strada ma mancano strutture capaci di seguire il percorso di reinserimento sociale dei beneficiari.

Ho avuto il piacere di collaborare con un’associazione locale “Wilidat lkhir” con sede a Casablanca, nata da circa un anno, i cui volontari raccolgono fondi con i quali acquistano alimenti, abbigliamento e beni di prima necessità che poi vengono distribuiti presso gli ospedali.

L'associazione Wlidat Lkher è nata con l'intento di aiutare i bambini di strada della città di Casablanca e ben presto si è resa conto che quello dei bambini è un fenomeno che riguarda tutto il Marocco. La sede principale si trova a Casablanca, ma esistono anche altre sedi più piccole e si travano a Fes, El Jadida, Marrakech, Tangeri, Agadir, Meknes,ecc...

Non c'è maggior soddisfazione per noi vedere la gioia nelle persone che riusciamo ad aiutare con la nostra associazione! Abbiamo aiutato più di 10000 bambini e continuiamo a farlo.

Ogni giorno dobbiamo affrontare molteplici difficoltà, ma grazie alla tenacia e alla buona volontà dei volontari, riusciamo a portare a termine i nostri progetti.
