Segnaletica del Cammino della Valle delle Abbazie

Il progetto "FIND THE WAY" è un'iniziativa cittadina, senza scopi di lucro, per mettere la segnaletica per camminatori che vogliono seguire il Cammino della Valle delle Abbazie. 

Il Cammino della Valle delle Abbazie è un itinerario turistico religioso che metta a sistema le splendide abbazie e gli edifici religiosi presenti sul territorio delle "Colline del Medio Vomano", luoghi di fede e di preghiera ma anche capolavori architettonici ed artistici nonché centri di comunità monastiche che hanno avuto un ruolo determinante nello sviluppo economico di questa parte di territorio.

La segnaletica da mettere seguirà i criteri dello standard del Club Alpino Italiano e della Associazione di Camminatori Europea (European Ramblers Association). Ci sono 3 tipi di segnaletica da mettere:

1. i segnali più semplici sono composti da una striscia bianca e una rossa in vernice e verranno messi da volontari locali che si autofinanziano. NON è lo scopo del progetto Find the Way.

2. segnaletica composta da dei pali in legno e segnali verniciati e tagliati in legno, da mettere in punti importanti, come bivi e punti tappa. Questa segnaletica è L'OBBIETTIVO del progetto FIND THE WAY. Finanziare l'acquisto dei materiali di questa segnaletica con contributi di sponsor interessati (operatori turistici, comuni) e cittadini che vogliono dare supporto all'iniziativa è necessario perché gli enti pubblici non riescono a stanziare i fondi per questo elemento essenziale del Camino della Valle delle Abbazie.

La segnaletica verrà messa comunque da volontari locali che non ne guadagnerebbero niente. Il costi da sostenere di questi segnali sono i materiali (il legno, la vernice, i chiodi) e il taglio delle lettere, che va fatto in modo professionale. In questo momento non è ancora noto esattamente il costo dei segnali, ma una stima è di 200 euro.

3. panelli informativi vicini in punti chiave o punti d'accesso al cammino, come punti tappa e vicino ai beni archeologici e naturali; questo progetto non mette questi punti informativi, perché sono probabilmente gli unici segnali per cui gli enti pubblici locali riescono a liberare dei fondi.

Il progetto registrerà e pubblicherà i contributi (in modo anonimo - senza nominare persone) e spese, così che contribuanti possono controllare che cosa è stata realizzata con i contributi.

Chi finanzierà un segnale completo (più o meno 200 euro - stima fin'ora) sarà chiesto se vuole il suo nome sul segnale.

“Find the Way” is a non-profit, civic project, to put way marking for walkers that want to follow the Cammino della Valle delle Abbazie (the Valley of the Abbeys Way).

The Cammino della Valle delle Abbazie is a touristic, religious trail that visits the beautiful abbeys and religious buildings in the area of the “Colline del Medio Vomano” (the Middle Vomano Hills). These are places of faith and worship, architectural works of art and monastic centres of gathering at the same time, that have played a decisive role in the economic development of this area.

To get an idea of the beauty of the Abbeys you can play around with the virtual tours or watch the beautiful documentary of director Stefano Saverioni. The history of these places is fascinating in any way you visit them, but walking the trail is without a doubt the best way to experience their authentic character.

The waymarking that needs to be put up, will follow the criteria of the Italian Mountain Club (CAI) and of the European Ramblers Association. There are 3 types of waymarks to realize:

1. Simple waymarks, composed by a white and a red stripe, that will be put by local volunteers that will fund these waymarks themselves. These waymarks are NOT the aim of the Find the Way project.

2. Signals made of wooden poles and signs with cut-out letters, that need to be placed in important points on the Way, like crossings and stopover points. These waymarks are the OBJECTIVE  of the FIND THE WAY project. It is necessary to finance the materials and the cutting out of the letters with contributions of interested sponsors (like tourism service providers and municipalities) and citizens that want to support the initiative, because the public authorities in Italy do not have the funds for this essential element of the Cammino della Valle delle Abbazie. 
Local volunteers will place the waymarks. What needs to be financed are the materials (the wood, the paint and the nails and screws) and the cutting out of the letters. At this moment it is not yet clear how much one waymark with 2 signals will cost, but the estimate is around 200 euro.

3. Information boards close to key points and access points to the Way, like stopover points close to archaeological and natural points of interest. This project does NOT place these information points, because they are probably the only boards for which the local public authorities are able to get the funding.

The project will both keep and publish a list of contributions (anonimously - without mentioning names) and money spent, to enable contributors to check what has been done with their money.

Someone who finances a whole waymark (around 200 euro) will be asked whether he or she wants his/her name on the waymark.
